Experience the magic of Yellowstone in winter on this all-inclusive, five-night photography retreat led by professional photographer Julia Cook. Based at the beautiful, snow-locked lodge at Skyline Guest Ranch, this immersive experience is designed for photographers of all levels, offering expert instruction while exploring the Northern Range of Yellowstone—one of the best places in the world to photograph wolves, bison, elk, and other winter wildlife. Based out of Skyline Guest Ranch, just a few miles from the famed Lamar Valley, this retreat places you in the heart of Yellowstone’s spring awakening. Autumn in Yellowstone is a season charged with energy and color. The valleys glow gold beneath crisp mountain air, bugling elk echo through the hillsides, and massive herds of bison gather during the height of the rut. Predators move across the landscape as the entire ecosystem prepares for the coming winter, creating some of the most dramatic wildlife moments of the year. Led by professional wildlife photographer Mitch McPherson, you will join a small group of photographers for a six-day, five-night all-inclusive experience filled with in-field instruction, adventure, and unforgettable encounters in one of the wildest places on earth.

JULIA COOK
LEAD PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDE
Julia Cook is a wildlife photographer and author whose work focuses on the animals and ecosystems of the Greater Yellowstone region. Growing up just outside Yellowstone National Park in Cody, Wyoming, she developed a deep connection to the park’s wildlife and landscapes from an early age. Her photography blends artistic storytelling with a strong background in environmental science and a passion for ethical wildlife photography. Julia is the lead photographer for Skyline Safari, and many of her images can be found throughout the Skyline Safari website and photography experiences. Through workshops and guided photography trips, she helps guests capture meaningful wildlife moments while exploring Yellowstone’s most iconic habitats.

PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDE
Mitch McPherson is a professional wildlife photographer known for his powerful, close-up images of North America’s most iconic animals. Living life on the road in a custom expedition van, Mitch spends much of the year traveling across the continent in pursuit of wild places, dramatic landscapes, and unforgettable wildlife encounters. His work focuses on capturing authentic moments in nature while sharing the stories behind the animals and ecosystems he photographs. Mitch is passionate about helping others develop their skills and confidence in the field while experiencing the magic of wildlife photography firsthand. Through a partnership with Skyline Safari, Mitch helps lead immersive photography adventures in Yellowstone National Park, guiding guests into the best wildlife habitats in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
