WILD SPRING PHOTO EXPEDITION
All-Inclusive Yellowstone Photography Retreat with Julia Cook
Early spring in Yellowstone is a season unlike any other. The snow is melting, the days grow longer, and the entire ecosystem wakes up after winter’s long hush. Bears are emerging from their dens, bison calves wobble beside their mothers, and the first flashes of green spread across the valleys. Life feels brand new and beautifully raw. Based out of Skyline Guest Ranch, just a few miles from the famed Lamar Valley, this retreat places you in the heart of Yellowstone’s spring awakening. Led by professional wildlife photographer Julia Cook, you will join a small group of photographers for a five night all-inclusive experience filled with instruction, adventure, and unforgettable moments in one of the wildest places on earth.

EXPLORE YELLOWSTONE IN SPRING
This intimate spring photography expedition brings together eight to ten photographers for a week of wildlife-focused shooting under the guidance of professional Yellowstone photographer Julia Cook. Your home for the week will be Skyline Guest Ranch, just minutes from the Northeast Gate of Yellowstone and right on the doorstep of the famed Lamar Valley. Each day is built around prime wildlife activity, with early mornings in the Lamar and exploration through Hayden Valley and Yellowstone Lake to look for bears, wolves, bison calves, elk, and the many species that make Yellowstone come alive in spring. Evenings include editing sessions, guided instruction, and a sunset shoot back in the Lamar on one of the nights.
Comfortable lodging, delicious home-cooked meals, transportation from Bozeman, park entrance fees, and expert guiding are all included, allowing you to focus fully on your craft while experiencing Yellowstone at its most tender and vibrant.
Back at the Ranch: Photo Reviews, Editing & Relaxation
After a full day of photography and adventure, we’ll return to Skyline Guest Ranch, a warm and welcoming retreat nestled in the beautiful Beartooth Mountains. This secluded, cozy lodge offers the perfect place to unwind, tucked away from the crowds in a setting that feels like a true escape. Each evening, we’ll gather to review the day’s captures, discussing composition, lighting, and potential areas of improvement to prepare for the next day's shoot. We’ll also cover editing techniques in a hands-on workshop, helping you bring out the best in your images. Of course, no retreat at Skyline would be complete without delicious, home-cooked meals. You’ll enjoy savory breakfasts, hearty ranch-style dinners, and fresh-baked treats, ensuring you're fueled for all your adventures. On our final night, we’ll wrap up the experience with an informal presentation, sharing our favorite images and celebrating the memories we’ve captured together.

Julia Cook
Skyline Safari Co. is proud to partner with professional wildlife photographer Julia Cook, who leads our Yellowstone Photography Tours and Winter Photo Expeditions. Born and raised in Cody, Wyoming, just outside of Yellowstone, Julia developed a deep appreciation for the natural world at an early age, which ultimately led her to wildlife photography.
Julia spends much of her time in Yellowstone, capturing the park’s diverse wildlife, with a special passion for grizzly bears, wolves, and other iconic species. She holds a B.S. in Environment and Natural Resources and a B.A. in History from the University of Wyoming, and now pursues photography full-time, using her lens to tell the story of Yellowstone’s wild inhabitants.
Beyond photography, Julia enjoys hiking, fishing, writing, and exploring the rugged landscapes of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Accompanied by her Labrador, Sylvan, she is dedicated to ethical wildlife photography, ensuring that every image she captures respects the natural behavior and habitat of the animals. Her goal is to create impactful images that highlight the beauty and wildness of the American West, inspiring others to develop a deeper connection with nature.
